After evaluating and comparing a large number of hybrid bikes in this segment, I finalized the OMO Hampi Prime 8-Speed, and it has exceeded my expectations.
My configuration included 60 TPI tyres, Tektro M280 mechanical disc brakes, alloy riser handlebar, adjustable stem, lockable ergonomic wrist-support grips, and alloy pedals—and the end result is a highly refined, well-balanced setup for fitness and endurance riding.
Technical highlights from my experience:
1x8 cassette drivetrain keeps the setup simple, efficient, and highly usable compared to cluttered multi-chainring alternatives in this price range
Rigid fork design translates power directly with no suspension bob, making the bike noticeably more efficient on paved roads
60 TPI tyres provide an excellent balance of rolling efficiency, grip, and vibration damping—ideal for Indian road conditions
Tektro M280 brakes deliver predictable modulation and strong braking confidence
Adjustable cockpit setup allows precise fit tuning for both comfort and performance posture
The bike feels stable at speed while remaining agile in city riding
What stood out most is that OMO offers something very few brands do in this budget: meaningful rider-focused customization instead of one-size-fits-all spec sheets. That flexibility allowed me to build a bike aligned to my exact riding preferences rather than compromise on stock components.
Overall, this is an excellent platform for riders who understand what they want in a hybrid bike and appreciate component-level configurability. For anyone seeking a performance-oriented hybrid with strong upgrade potential and thoughtful geometry, the Hampi Prime is a compelling option.
Very satisfied with the purchase and with the OMO team’s execution.
The Hampi Ace is a good cycle, but what really makes it worth buying is how easy it is to customize without spending a fortune.
The stock version is a bit bare-bones. The default disc brakes are made by some cheap chinese brands which I don't really think is trustworthy, so I decided to customize it through the website. I went with Tektro brakes, puncture-proof 60 TPI tires, wrist support locking grips, and alloy pedals. I also added a cycle lock and mudguards to make it more practical for daily use. The Tektro brakes provide much better stopping power for the price.
The red finish looks great, and the reflectors are a nice bonus for riding at night as it keeps you visible without needing to buy extra gear.
The Hampi Ace is honestly one of the best options at this price range.
After almost 11 years away from cycling, I finally decided to get back into it. I did a lot of research based on my use case and budget, and finally went with the OMO Hampi Pro 1x9 with hydraulic disc brakes. One thing I kept seeing repeatedly in reddit comments was:
"Don't go for mechanical disc brakes." So choosing hydraulic brakes turned out to be one of the best decisions so far.
My riding progress - I didn't rush things: Started with 10 km, Then 15 km, Then 20 km After about a month, completed 30 km.
I'm not in a hurry to chase 100 km rides. My focus is on gradually building strength, core stability, and consistency.
OMO Hampi Pro - Short review
Pros: Frame feels solid and well-built Gearing is smooth and reliable (Shimano Alivio RD Shimano Acera shifter) Hydraulic disc brakes work smoothly and predictably Honestly, they once saved me from a potential injury
Cons / Issues faced:
Within one week of delivery, the bottom bracket started creaking badly. Front brake cable was messy but mechanic did it fixed. Will add that photo in comment later. Contacted OMO support → they sent a replacement BB
Local mechanic replaced it. Also noticed minor headset creaking. Mechanic fixed it (probably greasing - not 100% sure)
Despite the initial issues, my overall experience with OMO has been good:
Happy to be back on the saddle after so long.
Really good value. Great finishing and quality parts. It's a hybrid which can go very fast with minimal effort. The aluminium frame makes it lightweight. The quality paint, sealed bearing hubs and BB, Kenda headset etc. elevate the experience as these miscellaneous parts are usually low quality on other bikes. The replaceable derailleur hanger is a life saver for repairs. It is the best road focused hybrid for ₹14k. Only complaints are the bad tyres and that the headset keeps getting loose after long rides. The delivery experience was terrible from delhivery they kept delaying it and it took more than a weeks effort from expected delivery date contacting the customer support of both the companies to finally fix it. The box came teared on one side with derailleur poking out. Thankfully there was no damage.
